"Washburn, Accounting, and... Cattle??”

Wake Up With Washburn

Jon SkeltonJon Skelton, bba '93, took a risk 19 years ago when he left a career in public accounting to help form Innovative Livestock Services, Inc. The result has been the successful merger of independent companies, and he has found it very rewarding to see the collaboration efforts come together. His lecture, Washburn, Accounting, and… Cattle??, will talk about his career transformation from Washburn student to CFO of an organization that fuses every aspect of the cattle industry.

Among his Washburn memories is the wakeup call he got when he took his first accounting test with Professor Walt James. After getting through school as a member of Beta Alpha Psi, he passed the CPA exam on his first try – a milestone he credits to Washburn faculty like James.

Skelton and his wife Karren live in Larned, Kansas, and have three children. He has been a Larned City Council member and served on the boards of the Larned Chamber of Commerce and Central Kansas Medical Center.
