Joe and Janet Aleshire of Overland Park, Kansas, have made a $2 million contribution to the Leadership Institute. Washburn announces $1 million gift to build new president’s home by campus

The Washburn University Alumni Association and Foundation announced today a $1 million gift from an anonymous donor to build a new presidential residence by Washburn’s campus. The proposed site of the home is 1709 SW MacVicar Avenue. The lot was purchased by the Foundation in 2021 and gifted to the University for future use.  Read more.


Washburn receives $1 million gift to jumpstart legacy campaign

School of Law Alumni Association honors six who serve their communities, Washburn Law

The Washburn University School of Law Alumni Association Board of Governors honored six individuals during its annual Alumni Weekend in October. Stephen Cavanaugh, ba ’71, jd ’80, earned the Distinguished Service Award. Lifetime Achievement Awards went to Bob Harstook, jd ’79, John Kemp, jd ’74 and Honorary ’03, and Jessie Junette Nye, jd 1912 (posthumous). Mark Dupree, jd ’07, was named Graduate of the Last Decade (GOLD), and Thomas Romig, dean, Washburn Law, was named Honorary Life Member.  Read more.

Recent gift leads to largest athletic scholarship fund in Washburn history

Washburn University announced an estate gift from Dorothy Reichart for more than $1.4 million to fund scholarships in athletics. This gift, combined with the previously established Jerry W. Reichart Athletic Scholarship Fund, makes this the largest endowed athletic scholarship funded by an individual in Washburn’s history, totaling nearly $2 million. Read more.
